Birds of Prey: And the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn ★★★★☆

April 22nd, 2022

Common Sense Media Age: 16+ Violence 5/5 Language 4/5

Drugs 3/5 Sex 2/5

My Age Recommendation: 15+ (Due to strong bloody and gory violence throughout, strong language, brief drug usage, and a brief implication of sexual abuse).

I've been getting requests from some friends and family members to finish watching the rest of the DC cinematic universe movies (excluding the animated universe). So there is no better place to start than a movie starring Harley Quinn! The story takes place after the events of Suicide Squad (2016) where the Joker dumped Harley Quinn. With her new 'emancipation', all of the people she did wrong while she was with Joker took this opportunity to come after her. She deals with most of her pursuers except for one, and she promises the last one she will find a certain diamond that has a key inside of it that unlocks a big family fortune. When she learns that a teenaged pick-pocketer has swallowed the diamond, Harley hides the kid from the people who want to kill her for the diamond. As the two grow closer to each other, more hitmen come after both of them, and they will need backup if they are to make it out of this situation alive. Will Harley Quinn save the kid? Let me say, this was an amazing movie. The characters were great along with the development. The story had no flaws or plot holes, and it had really good pacing (great execution). My only issue is that towards the end, the story felt a little rushed and it left me wanting just a little bit more out of the story before they rolled the credits. Other than that, this is one of my favorite movies of all time! Overall, this was an amazing movie that everyone should watch, but you will be left wanting more from Harley Quinn!
