Black Panther: Wakanda Forever ★★★★☆

November 13th, 2022

Common Sense Media Age: 12+ Violence 4/5 Language 3/5

My Age Recommendation: 10+ (Due to some strong violence)

After Chadwick Boseman died, I was extremely sad, especially knowing that Black Panther 2 was already released at that time and I was sad that he would have to be killed off. The movie did a good job of making the plot have enough tribute moments while still focusing on the main villain. The story follows after T'Challa's unexpected death via an incurable illness, and now there is no Black Panther to protect Wakanda. Shuri is now the princess of Wakanda, and there have been reports of American's finding vibranium in the ocean. Trying to stop them from reaching it, an unknown force kills all the Americans in the water. As Wakanda tries to figure out if these mysterious protectors are friend or foe, a sudden collision will made this decision for them, and force Wakanda (still weak from Black Panther's death) to fight for their country. Can they win against this unknown power? Let me say, this was an equally powerful and entertaining movie. They dealt with Chadwick Boseman's death pretty well, and they also did a good job with the Sea People (main villains) in terms of CGI, character development, and the overall aesthetic of them. Letitia Wright (Shuri) did a great job as an actress in this movie, portraying the sad scenes extremely well and still doing a good job in the action sequences and with her dialogue. I will say there are some moments with 'typical' MCU dialogue (corny) that kind of ruin the moment, but it's not that big of a deal. Overall, this is a great movie and an amazing tribute to Chadwick Boseman, who may rest in peace.
