It Chapter 2 ★★★★☆

January 9th, 2021

Common Sense Media Age: 15+ Violence 4/5 Language 4/5 Sex 2/5

My Age Recommendation: 15+ (Due to strong bloody and graphic violence, a graphic hate crime, strong language, and brief nudity).

The long but fun sequel to the iconic It movie is here, and I am glad I watched it! This movie, like the second half to the original It movie from the 90s, is about the 7 'losers' from Derry 27 years later. They have all moved on with their lives and gotten out of Derry, except for Mike, who never left Derry. After Mike sees that graphic murders have occurred, he knows this is Pennywise signaling his return, so he quickly calls the other 6 to return to Derry. The losers club has a great time coming back together and talking about their lives, but they get attacked by Pennywise at the restaurant they are in, which reminds all of them why they are here. While most of them were going to leave, Beverly tells them that she had visions of what would happen if they ran, and the vision was that they would all die by Pennywise. Agreeing to kill the clown, they all band together to find the clown and kill it. Will they kill Pennywise and prevent the 27-year curse from happening once again? Originally, Warner Brothers wanted to make both It and It Chapter 2 into one movie, similarly to the 1990 It film. They decided against it (get it) because of time limitations, and I am honestly glad they did not make it all into one movie! This movie was a surprisingly good ending to the It saga. I loved the blood and gore effects, and I loved the CGI monsters in this movie. I like the plot, and I do think it was a little slow in the beginning, but overall it was amazing. The plot was perfect, and the execution was good except for the slow beginning. I do like the characterization of the now-adult 'losers club' members, and I think they got the perfect actors for the roles. Overall, this is an epic conclusion in the Pennywise series for all It fans to watch and enjoy!
