Common Sense Media Age: 13+ Violence 4/5 Language 3/5
My Age Recommendation: 12+ (Due to intense sequences of peril, some language, and some violence).
My dad really wanted to watch this movie since he is a fan of the entire Jurassic Park and Jurassic World series. When I looked up the first two Jurassic World movies, trying to find a synopsis of them since I had forgotten some things, I saw that this movie received a whopping 30 percent (30/100) on Rotten Tomatoes! After watching this movie, I can confirm that this was not as bad as Rotten Tomatoes said it was, but there were some issues. The story is set four years after the events of the previous movie (where Isla Nublar was destroyed and dinosaurs now live among humans) and a new dinosaur company known as Biosyn has emerged and captured thousands of dinosaurs and placed them safely in the Dolomite Mountains. Owen and Claire live with Maisie Lockwood, who is now 13, in a cabin in the woods. One day, Maisie is kidnapped by Biosyn poachers and brought to their lab to be studied in hopes to fix a deadly outbreak of GMO Locusts that are destroying the nations food supply. Dr. Sattler and Alan Grant (from the original Jurassic Park movies) experience the wrath of these Locusts first hand, and sneak into Biosyn to get evidence and expose them. With Owen and Claire racing to find Maisie and Dr. Sattler and Dr. Grant trying to expose Biosyn, it won't be long before their paths collide. Can the two teams achieve their goals? Let me say, this movie is not terrible. The original scientists from the Jurassic Park movies probably and the entertaining sequences of dinosaur action saved this movie from being a complete failure. Other than that, the character development was uneven throughout, and I still had a lot of questions about Biosyn after the movie was over. The story was rushed in the beginning and then incredibly slow towards the middle, and the dinosaur action seemed to make the plot move faster towards the end. The little spouts of comedic lines were hit-or-miss with me since sometimes it felt forced while other times it seemed appropriate for the moment. I do think the dinosaurs looked much better in this movie, and the sound design for both the sound track and the dinosaurs themselves were amazing, which made the intense sequences towards the middle and end of the film enjoyable and entertaining. Overall, this is a decent movie to end the Jurassic Park saga with great dinosaur action!
