LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part ★★★☆☆

March 3rd, 2019

Common Sense Media age: 6+ Violence 3/5 Language 1/5 Sexy Stuff 1/5

My age recommendation: 5+ (Due to some comic mischief)

Everyone remembers the first LEGO movie, which was amazing. It had everything you wanted to see in a kids movie. We all knew a second part was coming, but after a year, we forgot about the sequel. Until now. Here is the sequel. This was a great movie, and it's perfect for a kid to watch. In terms of the plot, it could've been tweaked a little. There were lots of jokes made throughout this movie (mostly about Bruce Willis from Die Hard). Let's talk about the story. The main thing happening in this movie is that Wildstyle gets captured by LEGO Duplo characters. Emmet decides to go look for her when it turns out that she's in outer space, where apparently "no brick has ever gone before." This plot may sound amazing, but it lacked some key things. For instance, the movie rushed the beginning, probably the most important part of any movie. Another unsuccessful part of this movie was the middle. The middle of the movie was very slow, and the same for the fight scenes in this section of the movie. The best part was the ending, where they made a strong takeaway, and it was beautiful. The ending saved the movie from being a disaster. I say this movie is OK. I still think the first one is better, but this sequel was better than I thought it would be.
