No Time To Die ★★★★☆

November 22nd, 2021

Common Sense Media Age: 14+ Violence 4/5 Language 3/5 Sex 3/5 Drinking/Smoking 3/5

My Age Recommendation: 14+ (Due to strong prolonged sequences of violence and destruction throughout, suggestive themes, sexual content, partial nudity, strong infrequent language, drinking, and smoking).

Due to the pandemic, this movie has been put on hold for a while. As you know from a year ago when I started my James Bond binge, I was excited for this new movie to come out. Now that it is finally available to rent on Amazon Prime Video, I can finally watch it. I am glad I did! This movie tells the story of James Bond in retirement. He is living his best life in Jamaica when his old friend Felix says he needs him for a job capturing a scientist. This seemed like an easy task, but as things didn't go according to plan, everything falls apart. Bond is now forced to go out of retirement and work with the agency and a new Double 0 agent to take down this new villan. The new villan is armed with new technology and weapons which are more advanced than Bond has ever seen! Will Bond take him down, or will he die trying? Let me say, this was a great movie. The new characters were developed well, the plot twists were great, and the suspenseful moments really have you on the edge of your seat! The ending was very emotional, and it was effective. My only complaint was the movie's length. Certain action sequences, while undeniably cool and stylish, were prolonged for no reason. This movie had a run time of 2 hours and 46 minutes, which makes this movie the longest James Bond movie made so far. Some parts of the movie felt like it was droning on and on, to a point where sometimes it felt like the movie was keeping me from experiencing the rest of the plot and story. But in this case, the positives of the rest of the movie, including it's rare use of an effective emotional ending, made this movie a good one. Overall, this is an amazing James Bond movie, but remember you will be sitting there for a while!
