The Forever Purge ★★★☆☆

June 17th, 2022

Common Sense Media Age: 17+ Violence 5/5 Language 5/5

My Age Recommendation: 17+ (Due to extremely bloody and gory violence/carnage throughout, frequent disturbing imagery, and strong language throughout).

We are finally at the last movie in this series with The Forever Purge. I personally have been dreading the day I watch this because I knew how scary is was due to reviews I saw earlier this year. But I took some deep breaths before watching this decent but insanely realistic Purge finale! The story takes place 8 years after the events of The Purge: Election year. Senator Roan was elected into office and banned the Purge during her presidency. However by doing this she also let crime and unemployment skyrocket which eventually led her to not be re-elected 8 years later. With the NFFA swooping in and re-instating the annual Purge, the night was a brutal one, but it did not stop there. Not even a minute after the annual Purge ended, a large group of white supremacists known as the Purge Purification Force (PPF) continued to purge with the intention to kill all immigrants and anyone who isn't a full blooded American. With over half of America joining the PPF, they call their movement the Ever After Purge with the target to kill anyone who does not join them. Things get out of hand and Canada and Mexico open their borders for 6 hours and will take any American who is unarmed seeking refuge until America gets sorted. Will America survive the Ever After Purge? Let me say, this movie is not as bad as people say. The story is decent with some minor flaws. The main characters are developed thoroughly throughout the movie via flashbacks and dialogue. For the first time ever in a purge movie, the themes of racial injustice and inequality between sexes finally came through properly without being overshined by the carnage around it. My only concern was the plot execution and how it was slow at times and then really fast. The beginning was at a decent pace but towards the end the entire movie felt rushed, which led to the ending being a little bit unsatisfying. Overall, this is a decent purge movie with great characters and a decent plot, but this is the scariest one out of them all!
