Common Sense Media Age: 16+ Violence 5/5 Sex 3/5 Language 3/5 Drinking/Smoking 3/5

My Age Recommendation: 15+ (Due to some violence, scary and disturbing images including disfigured faces, some gore, mature themes, suicide, and animal abuse/violence).

My parents have noticed that I am watching scary movies. They thought that Us and some of the conjuring movies are not scary at all, which in my opinion is not true. So they suggested this movie which according to many websites is known to be the scariest movie made. I have heard of this movie, but never mustered the courage to watch it until yesterday. Is it actually scary? The Ring is about a video tape (which is how you know this movie is from 2002) that has nightmare-ish imagery that causes you to die in 7 days from an unseen force after watching it. Sounds like a myth, right? Well, after a teenager watches it and mysteriously dies 7 days later, a reporter named Rachel lets her curiosity get the best of her and then she finds the tape and watches it. She soon realizes that this is not a prank, and that she has 7 days to find out how to stop this. As she tries to learn who made the tape and where it was filmed, she learns many dark and gruesome secrets, and some of these secrets come with a price! Will she learn about this tape and survive, or will she die after 7 days like the rest of them. Let me say, this was an amazing movie. I was genuinely shaking by the end. The story is amazing, the character development is also great. The plot was not rushed, and the frequent realizations made by the main character make the movie interesting and scary. The effects and story are incredible for this time, and I can say this is one of the best and scariest movies I have ever seen! Overall, this is an amazing movie with scares throughout that will leave you on the edge of your seat!
