My Age Recommendation: 13+ (Due to some strong violence, some language, brief sexual references, and disturbing themes).
I was beyond excited to hear that there was a new Thor movie, and on release day I was already checking the Rotten Tomatoes score. To my surprise, the score was a 65 out of 100, which is low for a Marvel movie. I was able to watch the movie that weekend, and I was majorly disappointed! The story follows a new villain known as Gorr the God Butcher who has a necro sword which can kill any god with a single strike. After Gorr kidnaps all the Asgardian children from New Asgard and holds them hostage, Thor and his team (including Korg and Valkyrie) set off to find them. On the way, Thor runs into Jane Foster, his ex-girlfriend, who now wields Mjolnir herself, but a terrible secret can easily break them apart. Can the team rescue the Asgardian children, or will Gorr get his wish and kill all the gods? Let me say, this movie was an utter disappointment. The story was weak and rushed with numerous plot holes. The character development was okay, but the flashback sequences to Jane and Thor's relationship did not help with the gap between the first Thor movie up until now. The whole subplot of Jane and Thor's love felt forced and 'there-to-be-there' without any meaningful moments in the two's relationship. The chemistry between the two wasn't that great either, and for a movie that also has a very dark main plot (I mean kids were kidnapped and put in a cage for crying out loud), the romance felt unnecessary and just added in there. Overall, this is bad movie with themes that do not connect and numerous plot holes.
