Wonder Woman 1984 ★★★☆☆

December 26th, 2020

Common Sense Media Age: 12+ Violence 3/5 Language 2/5 Sex 2/5

My Age Recommendation: 11+ (Due to some violence and brief language)

When I heard there was going to be a sequel to the first Wonder Woman movie, I was stoked. The first one was amazing at establishing good characters and had an amazing plot, and I was excited to see what DC would come up with for the sequel. I will be honest here and say that this sequel was a little disappointing in some ways, but overall it was a solid sequel! This movie takes place in '84, and Diana Prince (aka Wonder Woman) is living in it! Diana works for a Smithsonian museum to take a look at ancient artifacts. Things get crazy when a stone is discovered that grants wishes. While no one believes in it, Barbara gives it a shot by wishing to be more like Diana, and then she gets it and some perks to! Max Lord, a man who will do anything to get his oil businesses to start up, wants to get this stone to do so. When he succeeds, his wish is to become the stone himself, causing him to give out wishes to whoever he pleases. He soon gets too powerful, as he is controlling the whole United States and the world is in chaos because of the effects of everyone's wishes. Wonder Woman has to stop Max Lord before he gives out too many wishes, and Barbara is starting to like Diana's powers! I have to say, this movie was decent. I liked the plot, the execution was not the best though. Barbara was not developed that much, and I feel like the version of Cheetah she turned into was not as realistic as the comics and other novels were. I was okay in the beginning with the romantic theme, but in the end it felt very unnecessary. Overall, this was a decent sequel for any Wonder Woman fans
